About 23km south-east of Maseru in the Phuthiatsana valley lies Thaba Bosiu, birthplace of the Sotho people and legendary bastion of their great founding Chief, Moshoeshoe.
Perhaps the most celebrated of Southern Africa's mountain fortresses, it has the distinction of never having fallen to the foe, despite numerous attempts by invading forces, both black and white, to take it by storm.
