Since the issue arose that there would be centenary celebration of Gandhiji' s first Odisha visit, the question was asked if Mahatma Gandhi had ever visited the Jagannath Temple in Puri and seen the deities. So far there was strong perception in many corners that Gandhiji had never visited the Jagannath Temple at any point of time on the ground that Dalits were not allowed to enter the temple.
