    Jindřich Feld was born into a musical family. His father was a renowned professor of violin at the Prague Conservatory, his mother was also violinist, so there were innumerable opportunities to hear music performed during Jindrich Feld's childhood.

    He studied violin and viola with his father, enjoyed playing chamber music, but his life-long interest has been centered in musical composition. His formal training in composition was at the Prague Conservatory and at the Academy of Music, where he graduated in 1952.
