Mississippi's two top legislative leaders on Monday revealed their specific plans for legislative priorities this year, and on Tuesday they gaveled in the 2025 Legislative Session.
Both House Speaker Jason White, R-West, and Lt.
Gov. Delbert Hosemann said they are looking to address tax cuts, Medicaid expansion, amend the state's public retirement system, advance the school choice agenda and a litany of other bills.
"I want to commend you for that in my first session as Speaker, for keeping the disagreements on policy, about policy, and it not being personal," White said to House members on Tuesday.
"We're going to tackle some more big topics, and we're going to chase a few more lions, and we're going to see how far we can get."
